COMMUNICATION ON COMMISSIONERS-DESIGNATE YET TO BE TRANSMITTED TO OYEBANJI, SAYS EKITI ASSEMBLY

The Ekiti State House of Assembly has disclosed that it is yet to transmit a communication to Governor Biodun Oyebanji on the confirmation of the twenty one commissioner-nominees who recently underwent screening by the legislature.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Hon. Babatunde Oke, disclosed this on Friday during a chat with reporters on the status of the commissioners-designate who are awaiting their swearing-in by Governor Oyebanji.

When asked whether the House has forwarded a communication to the Governor on the confirmation of the commissioners-designate, Hon. Oke revealed that the transmission was delayed by some administrative matters that were yet to be sorted out.

The House spokesman who represents Ikere Constituency 1 assured that a communication on the confirmation would be transmitted to the Governor as soon as the administrative issues are resolved.

Hon. Oke said: “A communication to that effect has not been transmitted because it is a process. Screening (of commissioner-nominees), confirmation and transmission are different processes.

“The issue of transmission is an administrative matter and there are still other administrative issues that have to be settled before transmission. This is a process our people must understand.

“It is a process and the process is not complete until it is transmitted from the House and the House is yet to transmit until certain administrative issues are resolved and sorted out.”

It would be recalled that the House confirmed the twenty one commissioner-nominees at a plenary on Thursday after screening them for a period of two weeks.

The House shortly after the confirmation adjourned sine die.
