Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital was virtually locked down Tuesday, as the Senator representing Ekiti Central in the 9th senate, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (MOB) distributed various items of empowerment to the people of his constituency.
The event which was held at the main bowl of the Oluyemi Kayode stadium turned out to be a carnival like political rally witnessed by notable APC bigwigs amongst who are Otunba Niyi Adebayo, Minister for Trade and Industry, the Ekiti State Governor Dr Kayode Fayemi, ably represented, the APC candidate for the June 18 governorship election, Hon Biodun Oyebanji BAO also represented, member of Representatives representing Ekiti Central Hon Fatoba, amongst others.
The Oluyin, Oba Adeola Ajakaiye, was the royal father of the event.
Senator Bamidele in his opening address expressed his gratitude to all the people of his constituency including leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC for their continued support and understanding and encouragement towards his political career in Ekiti.
His words; “I thank you all for believing in me and for standing with me through thick and thin the turbulent times and moments of celebration
Continuing, Bamidele said, “Today’s occasion is programmed to serve three purposes first to thank you the good people of Ekiti Central for giving me the mandate to serve and for affording me the opportunity to represent you at the 9th Assembly
“Secondly, today’s event shall also be explored in reeling out my account of stewardship to the delight of my constituents and thirdly, I am glad to inform you that part of the programmes lined up for today is the distribution of work equipment such as pepper grinding machines, cassava grinding machines, block moulding machines, hair dryers, transport vehicles, tricycles, motorcycles, ambulances, ventilators, financial gifts as business startup supports among other dividends of democracy which are capable of adding values to our people and changing their living conditions”
The lawmaker who is seeking to represent his constituency for a second term however used the occasion to seek for his people’s continued support and prayers to enable him to do more and further raise the bar for legislative representation.
Senator Bamidele in what appears his official endorsement of governorship candidate of the APC in the June 18 governorship election, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji BAO, said despite the controversies that trailed the primary election, none of the aspirants doubted the competence and eligibility of the governorship hopeful.
