The Senate Leader and senator representing Ekiti Central senatorial district Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele has made a strong political statement throwing his weight behind the second term ambition of Governor Biodun Oyebanji
The lawmaker made the shocking declaration yesterday while giving a vote of thanks at the Thanksgiving ceremony held at All Souls Anglican Church, Iyin Ekiti marking his 60th birthday.
The lawmaker who described Oyebanji as brother and colleague lauded the governor for his support and sacrifices towards the success of his 60th birthday which was preceded by 24 hours marathon praise and worship at the Obafemi Awolowo Civic Center Ado Ekiti on Friday.
Bamidele in an address to the widows association disclosed that he would lead the campaign for Oyebanji’s second term.
According to him, “In less than four years now when the Governor would be preparing for his second term, I cannot be his campaign DG because I came from Central with the Governor but I will be chairman of his campaign committee”
He promised continuous support for the widows in the whole senatorial district noting that their labour of love would be rewarded.
Earlier Governor Oyebanji in his address, lauded the celebrant describing him as a great gift to the people of Ekiti adding that Bamidele’s rising political profile as the Senate Leader would facilitate more development to the State
