WHY I NAMED MEDICAL HOSTELS AFTER FORMER EKITI DEPUTY GOVERNOR’S….SENATE LEADER

The senate leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, has named hostels for medical students at the Ekiti State University, Ado -Ekiti after two former deputy governors of the state Prof. Modupe Adelabu and late Chief Bisi Egbeyemi.

The female medical students’ hostel was named after Prof. Adelabu who was the deputy governor between May 8, 2013, and October 15, 2014, while the hostel for the male medical students was named after the late Chief Egbeyemi who was the deputy governor between October 16, 2018, and October 15, 2022.

Bamidele, who disclosed this during the Inauguration of the medical students’ hostels, said the facilities were named after the deputy governors in recognition of their efforts and contributions to the progress and development of the state.

He noted that the duo’s tenure as deputy governor was remarkable, adding that they contributed immensely to the business of governance and handled assignments given to them with an unwavering touch of excellence.

The lawmaker representing Ekiti Central in the red chamber described Adelabu and Egbeyemi as season administrators and grassroots politicians whose imprint and legacies shall remain indelible in the history of the state

Bamidele said that apart from the two medical students’ hostels and various other projects that were commissioned across the senatorial District, contractors have also moved to the site for projects that range from mini sports complex, hospital intensive care units, construction of township roads, street lights, among others.

He commended Governor Oyebanji’s exemplary leadership, stressing that he was able to contribute to the development of the state through constituency projects because the governor created and sustained an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity.

He said that his contributions to the district were the positive results of the governor’s engagement with all the members of the 10th National Assembly where he shared his development vision and urged the nine lawmakers to align their vision with the state government to accelerate development across the state.

In his remarks, Governor Oyebanji lauded the Senate Leader for his unwavering commitment to the development agenda of the state.

The governor said that the infrastructural development in EKSU will further boost significantly the capacity of the state-owned University to deliver quality education, improve the overall welfare of students, and also contribute to the state’s human capital development agenda

Emphasizing the power of collaboration in achieving development outcomes, the governor said he will continue to work with every well-meaning citizen of the state who can help develop the state irrespective of their political or religious affiliation
