The popular Irona area of Ado Ekiti was this afternoon, thrown into confusion and pandemonium as two yet to be identified gunmen reportedly killed a young man in broad daylight.
It was like a scene from an horror film as the dare devil gunmen who were masked and in black attire intercepted the Corolla sport car of the deceased after giving him a hot chase from behind.
One of the eyewitnesses told our correspondent that the whole scene lasted for less than 5 minutes as the marksmen stopped the victim and riddled the windscreen of his car with bullets.
Not done, they pulled the guy out of the car and shot him in his chest. He reportedly died on the spot.
To complete the devilish mission, they succeeded in carting away a big back suspected to be filled with unspecified amount of raw cash.
The gunmen then released more sporadic shots in the air as traders and residents scampered for safety even as the attackers fled with their loot on top speed along Ilawe road.
The police later arrived at the scene few minutes after the darstadly act and carried the corpse of the young man to the morgue.
The police are yet to release an official statement about the incident as at the time of filing this report.
