The newly elected National President of Federation of Ekiti State Students Union, Comrade Benjamin Adekunle Onileowo has unfolded a 8-point agenda of his administration for the students body.

He made the disclosure in a speech he delivered on the occasion of his swearing in with members of his executive Council on Friday.

Onileowo while unfolding his programme, said: “With profound humility and a heart brimming with gratitude, I stand before you today, deeply honored to assume the mantle of leadership as your National President of the Federation of Ekiti State Students Union (FESSU). Your overwhelming mandate is not just a vote of confidence but a sacred trust, and I pledge to honor it with unwavering dedication and unyielding resolve.

“On the historic day of March 30th, 2024, our esteemed electorate, embodying the essence of democracy, converged from every corner of our great nation to chart a new course for our beloved union. Their resounding endorsement of our vision for innovative and impactful student unionism in Ekiti State speaks volumes about our collective aspirations for a brighter future. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to every student who participated in this democratic process, my esteemed National Executive Council, and Stakeholders Forum for their steadfast support and unwavering commitment.

“I acknowledge with utmost respect the official congratulatory message from my predecessor and former National President, received on April 3rd, 2024, and his promises to support the new administration’s vision in the best interests of Ekiti State students. Additionally, I appreciate the congratulatory message I received from my major contender for this esteemed position to serve the students of Ekiti State on April 5th, 2024, and I commend his spirit of sportsmanship.

“As we embark on this noble journey together, guided by our steadfast commitment to innovation, I am compelled to re-echo our 7-point Innovation Agenda, which shall serve as the lodestar of our administration:

“1. Equitable Representation:
Under our stewardship, every student in Ekiti State shall be accorded fair and equal representation, regardless of social status, gender, geographical location, health condition, or religious affiliation. We shall staunchly defend the rights of our members and leave no stone unturned in ensuring their welfare and protection. The establishment of a physical secretariat for our esteemed union is not merely a proposal but a pivotal necessity, and we are steadfastly committed to its realization.

  1. Academic Development:
The pursuit of academic excellence lies at the core of our agenda. We shall organize comprehensive academic tutorials, career guidance sessions, and facilitate scholarships, bursaries, and internships through strategic collaborations. Our proposed “Ekiti Scholars Championship” shall serve as a beacon of excellence, incentivizing academic prowess and rewarding scholarly achievement among the students of Ekiti State.
  2. Strategic Communication:
Effective communication shall be the cornerstone of our success. We shall revitalize union communication through a robust online platform, encompassing a user-friendly website, regular newsletters, social media updates, and interactive forums. The establishment of the FESSU Press and the FESSU Service Commission (ServiCom) shall herald a new era of transparent communication, swift grievance redressal, and enhanced media engagement with our vibrant student community.
  3. Skill Development:
Empowering our students with essential skills for the digital age is paramount. Through pioneering initiatives such as the Ekiti State Students Skill Bootcamp and the establishment of the Ekiti Tech Club, we shall foster digital literacy and provide avenues for hands-on skill acquisition, ensuring our students are poised for success in a rapidly evolving world.
  4. Advocacy:
Our union shall be the unwavering voice of advocacy, tirelessly championing the rights, interests, and welfare of every student in Ekiti State. We shall vehemently lobby for improved educational policies, enhanced infrastructure, and augmented funding for student welfare programs, leaving no stone unturned in our pursuit of a brighter future for all.
  5. Leadership Mentorship:
Nurturing the leaders of tomorrow is imperative for our collective prosperity. We shall facilitate transformative leadership mentorship programs, forging meaningful connections between students and seasoned professionals, and organizing enriching leadership retreats and the Ekiti Education Colloquium. The inauguration of the FESSU Magazine shall serve as a testament to our commitment to preserving our rich heritage and inspiring future generations.
  6. Community and Social Responsibility:
Leading by example, we shall spearhead impactful community service initiatives, champion environmental stewardship, and advocate for critical social causes. Through strategic partnerships and collaborative endeavors, we shall empower students across diverse disciplines, catalyzing positive change and fostering societal progress.

“In conclusion, I am steadfast in my belief that together, united in purpose and fortified by your unwavering support, we shall surmount every challenge and realize our shared vision for a brighter tomorrow.

“In a final act of administrative necessity, as the Grand Commander of the seen and unseen Aluta Force of the Ekiti State Students, across the country and in the diaspora, I hereby dissolve all standing committees of the union, extending my heartfelt appreciation to every member for their invaluable service and dedication to the ideals of the Federation of Ekiti State Students Union.

Long Live Federation Of Ekiti State Student’s Union
