This Sunday, all roads will lead to Ijan Ekiti Gbonyin LCDA as indigenes of Ijan kingdom both home and in the diaspora will converge at the ancient community to celebrate the Onijan Annual Yam Festival scheduled to hold on Sunday, July 9, 2023.

According to a press release from the Palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba Lawrence Adebanji Aladesuyi, Afayagbekun II, the Onijan of Ijan-Ekiti made available to our correspondent, the monarch enjoined all his subjects, friends and acquaintances to celebrate the cultural fiesta with him.

The 2023 ONIJAN Yam festival doubles as Oba Aladesuyi’s first celebration on the throne following his enthronement in September last year as the Onijan.

The statement reads; “In line with the dictates of the custom and tradition of the land, we wish to notify the public and to state emphatically that there would be restrictions to vehicular movement for about 2 hours; this would be between the hours of 5-7 in the evening of that day, to allow the King and other custodian of tradition rites in the community perform their roles.

“We enjoin the strangers and other passers-by to adhere strictly to this instruction as we appeal to you of any inconveniences occasioned by this exercise”
