All is now set for Onijan of Ijan-Ekiti FC Team as ‘Team Ijan’ is poised to join their counterparts across the state in the year 2023 maiden edition of Ekiti Obas Football Competition scheduled for July in the state.
Chief Paul Bejide, the head coach of the team in a courtesy visit to Onijan, Oba Lawrence Adebanwi Aladesuyi hinted the monarch of the team’s preparedness for the forthcoming competition and to seek his royal blessings for the team to win the football championship.
Chief Paul told the Kabiesi that one of the illustrious sons of Ijan-Ekiti, Otunba’Wale Kolawole has indicated interest to sponsor the Team during the coming competition.
According to him, the football competition would hold between July 7 to July 25. noting that his players have been holding series of trainings in preparation for the soccer fiesta.
He stated further that the competition would feature teams representing traditional rulers of various towns and communities across the state.
The Onijan Onijan, Oba Aladesuyi in a response, thanked the crew for the visitation and urged them to prepare very well and be good ambassadors of the community.
The monarch noted that football plays a vital role in promoting unity and harmony amongst different categories of people in the society and serves as a channel for recreation and relaxation.
He lauded the sponsor of the football team, Otunba ‘Wale Kolawole for his magnanimity and good gestures for deeming it fit to shoulder the responsibility despite the poor state of the economy in the country.
He also commended Otunba’Wale for his show of love to the community by the singular effort.
The royal father gave his royal blessings and prayed for the success of the team in the forthcoming football competition.
