….Says Ipoti is indivisible

Renowned Public Affairs analyst, Elder Ayo Arogundade has yesterday, poured encomiums on Oba Oladipupo Kolade James, the Olupoti of Ipoti kingdom on his tenth coronation anniversary.

He stated this at the grand finale of the weeklong action packed anniversary celebration.

Arogundade, one of the illustrious sons of Ipoti in an interview with our correspondent lauded the Oba for being the architect of tremendous progress in the town since his ascension to the throne ten years ago.

He said; “Since his ascension to the throne of his fore fathers ten years ago, Ipoti Ekiti has achieved tremendous development, our palace is taking a new shape, a beautiful edifice with befitting colour, markets are springing up here and there with a Civic Center and to God be the glory, indigenes of this town are making progress from all walks of life during his regn”

Continuing, the retired college librarian and a major investor in hospitality business explained that Ipoti has grown to be a kingdom.

According to him,; “We have so many farm settlements and that is why we called it kingdom and that is why kabiyesi has been able to install Baales to these farm settlements which in turn has been able to improve the economy of the land and the economy of the people of Ipoti Ekiti”

Speaking further, the community leader however, made a passionate appeal to all concerned to facilitate more development to the town.
His words; “I’m so passionate that a University should be established in Ipoti Ekiti by government either at state or federal level or by private individuals. I want our health center to be upgraded to a General Hospital. I’m also appealing for either a School of Nursing or College of Technology should be approved for the people of Ipoti Ekiti. Also the roads to farm settlements should be rehabilitated I want government to listen to us by giving more appointments to indigenes of Ipoti”

He added that peace and unity is essential for the progress of the town.

“I’m also very passionate about unity and love among the people of Ipoti Ekiti, we should be united. Ipoti Ekiti is indivisible, and indisoluble, we are one and we should remain one because if we are united in love there will be tremendous development. We are geographically contiguous. There is beauty in number and as a historian, Ipoti Ekiti was founded based on unity and love of our fore fathers and there was an agreement based on one voice” he concluded.

At a carnival like event in the ancient town of Ipoti Ekiti signalling the grand finale of a weeklong activities, the sleepy community in Irede LCDA came alive with much pomp, fun and panache celebrating the royal father.

As early as 10.00am the expansive Olupoti Palace arcade venue of the colourful event, played host to joyful indigenes of the community who wore special uniforms made for the occasion.


It was an estactic moment for the jubilant crowd when Oba Kolade in his full royal regalia walked in to the high table prepared for the dignitaries signifying the commencement of the program.


Amongst the early arrivals to the historic occasion was representative of the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, representative of the Etsu of NUPE, Dr Yahaya Abubakar, members of Majority Oba in Ekitiland MOBEL, Hausa community, Chairman of NURTW Ekiti state with members of his exco, former Attorney General of the State, Owoseni Ajayi amongst others.


One of the high points of the colourful event was the launching of 100 million naira development fund and the unveiling of bags made from mats produced by women of the town.
