In a move aimed at enhancing sports development and promoting community engagement, the Ekiti State Ministry of Education has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Office of Sports Development for the use of selected public school playgrounds.

The agreement was officially signed in the office of the Honorable Commissioner for Education

This collaboration, championed by Governor Biodun Oyebanji, aims to create sustainable sporting culture and encourage local communities to develop dedicated sports men and women

The Ministry, led by Commissioner Dr. (Mrs) Olabimpe Aderiye, seeks to promote academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and a culture of teamwork, discipline, and resilience. She urged the Office of Sports Development to ensure that the facilities released to them are properly utilized, noting that vandalism of the school properties is highly prohibited.

In her response, the Technical Advisor to the Governor on Sports Development Dr Olusola Osetoba expressed appreciation for the privilege to access the playing grounds for sporting activities, assuring that the facilities will be maintained. She said the partnership is expected to foster a stronger sporting culture in Ekiti, engaging students and communities going forward.

Principals are to verify this authorization before granting access. No individual or group should be allowed to use the fields without presenting a letter from the Office of Sports Development.
