The Ekiti State Police Command on Tuesday arraigned a 20-year-old man, Timnam Nammm, before a Chief Magistrate’s Court, Ado Ekiti District for allegedly stealing a motorbike.
The defendant is standing trial on a count charge of stealing.
The police prosecutor, ASP Celeb Leramo, told the court that the defendant “on December 11, 2023, at about 12am, at Oye Ekiti, did steal a Bajay motorbike valued at N700,000, property of Rasaq Abdul.”
The police prosecutor said, “The offence committed is punishable under Section 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021.”
Counsel for the defendant, Adeyemi Egbebi, urged the court to grant bail to his client on liberal terms, promising a credible surety.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, granted bail of N50,000, with one surety in like sum to the defendant.
The Chief Magistrate adjourned the case to January 17, for hearing.
