Good governance according to honourable Gbenga Oluwatuyi, the Executive Chairman, Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Council is the pride of the electorate, that is the reason his administration will not deviate from administering good governance that will bring development to his people and the Local government.
Speaking shortly after his inauguration, Oluwatuyi said his tenure as the executive Chairman of Irepodun/Ifelodun Local government will replicate good governance as demonstrated by His Excellency, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, the Executive Governor of Ekiti State in the State Level in his Local government by bringing government closer to the grassroot.
Oluwatuyi noted that the major responsibility of every local government chairman is to bring the grassroot people closer to the government and that is exactly what his government will represent in Irepodun/Ifelodun council area.
Speaking further, the newly elected chairman describe the present administration under His Excellency, Mr Biodun Oyebanji as excellent, saying Ekiti State has never had it like this ever before. “In a situation where the governor has grounded the opposition parties in the State through his ‘Omoluabi’ spirit, definitely you can see that he has done a very great job and also, through his excellent performances and transparent governance we have never had it so good like this in Ekiti State,” he said.
Oluwatuyi advised the people of his Local government to be optimistic and patient. According to him, year 2023 was very challenging but this year 2024 is full of hope, all they have to do is to be patient with the present administration and also pay their tax.
He noted that everybody in the local government should make tax payment hIs priority. He said further that for government to perform its duties rightly, the citizens must first perform their role by paying tax and through this, the government will be able to execute its responsibilities effectively and timely.
He noted further that though the people from his Local government is very poor at paying taxes, his administration will be very aggressive in that area of tax collection.
He said his candidacy and the election that brought him to power as the chairman of his Local government was very easy because there were no strong and serious opposition parties which made it easier for him to navigate through the party’s primary and during the election.
