As the 3-day Governor BAO’s free Christmas food package for all Ekiti residents came to a close at the weekend, over two thousands bags of rice were distributed to all categories of Ekiti residents during the three day exercise which began on Thursday, December 26, 2024.

The grand finale of the event moderated by the Office of Community Communications, was held at the Efunyela Hall Governor’s Office in Ado Ekiti and it was the turn of all communties in the state as well as landlords Associations from across the 16 Local Governments to receive their own largese.

The food items donated by Governor Oyebanji to the people of Ekiti was aimed at putting smiles on the faces of Ekiti people during the yuletide season in the face of rising cost of food items across the country.

Mrs Mary Oso Omotoso, the DG Bureau of Community Communications who anchored the distribution, reiterated Governor BAO’s love for the people of Ekiti as shown by the generous donation noting that the welfare of average Ekiti citizens is paramount in the heart of his boss.

The Governor’s aide lauded Oyebanji for going extra mile by ensuring the early payment of minimum wage to Ekiti workers amongst other 36 governors in the country.

She pointed out that most of the communties represented at the event had been touched by Mr Governor in his development drive especially at the grassroots where the footprints of his shared prosperity agenda can be felt.

Breaking down the 3-day distribution pattern, Mary Oso said;

“We started the program the first day capturing groups and associations together with the PWDs followed by the various ethnic groups and communication agents across the local governments in the state. Today’s event is scheduled to take care of all communties which I’m sure were well represented here. I want to use this opportunity to appeal to all communties here present to make sure that the food items get to the people in their localities as Governor has directed”

However, torrents of responses from the audience largely elongated the duration of the program as Mrs Mary Oso had hectic time controlling various speakers who took their time to highlight some of the government laudable projects in their communties.

Speaking on behalf of a group he identified as G-19, a member of Ekiti 4th Assembly, Hon. Seyi Shitu praised the Governor for fulfilling all the age long demands of his community noting that the Governor’s second term is a done deal

Representative from Isaba communty thanked the governor for rehabilitating the road from Ikoyi-Ile to Isaba Ekiti along Ikole axis which had long been abandoned. Other beneficiary communties of road projects include omu, ijelu, Oke Ako, Omuo, Moshood, Ajebandele, Kajola, Embassy Island, Igirigiri others.
Those whose communties benefited from transformers provided by the Governor in the past two years also gave testimonies of how they were saved from perennial darkness. They included Ola Oluwa, Egbewa, Aba iya Medi, Idi Aagba and the adjoining communties.

The appreciative community leaders however were unanimous in their support for the Governor’s second term promising to repay the governor with their massive vote come 2026
