As part of efforts towards achieving the key objectives of Sustainable Urban Rural Water Supply Sanitation and Hygiene (SURWASH), the Ekiti State Water and Sewerage Company (ESWC) has commenced the replacement of five hundred and twelve ( 512) meters of 110mm diameter ductile Iron pipeline that were initially removed along Midas, Iworoko road in Ado.
The Commissioner for the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities (MIPU), Prof Mobolaji Aluko who made this known in Ado-Ekiti, noted that the replacement of this pipes became necessary after the initial pipeline was excavated during the reconstruction of that portion of the Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki Road in October 2022, thereby cutting the beneficiaries of the adjoining communities away from public water supply.
He explained that the replacement of the pipeline will give about 6000 beneficiaries living in that axis an opportunity to access water again after several years of disconnection.
He stressed, that this development will enhance a healthy lifestyle that will contribute to their wellbeing adding that availability of water supply will improve sanitation and hygiene.
Earlier in his remarks ,the Managing Director of Ekiti Water and Sewerage Company,Mr Wole Afolabi, pleaded and solicited the support of the beneficiaries that may be affected while the civil work is on going adding that it will only take few weeks for the work to be completed.
Afolabi, listed benefitting communities to include: Ifelere, Ilokun, Midas, Ifesowapo, Delinks, Jokotayo, Boluwaduro, Adehun Car Wash areas of the. State Capital.
