The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has hailed the emergence of Senator Opeyemi Bamidele (Ekiti Central) as the new Senate Majority Leader.
Rt. Hon. Aribasoye in a statement on Thursday described Senator Bamidele’s choice as the number three man in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly as a “fitting glory for all sons and daughters of Ekiti.”
The Speaker expressed delight that the famed Ekiti’s virtues of integrity, honour, honesty and hard work which Senator Bamidele represent have been recognized by his party and colleagues in arriving at his choice
Rt. Hon. Aribasoye noted that Senator Bamidele deserved the exalted position on the strength of his track record, pedigree, cognate legislative experience, humility, man management and excellent leadership qualities.
He noted that Senator Bamidele’s rise to the post of the Senate Majority Leader has given Ekiti State a voice in the top echelon of decision making in Nigeria in the present dispensation especially in the legislative arm.
The Speaker urged Senator Bamidele to use his position to rally fellow Senators to support President Bola Tinubu to realize his Renewed Hope agenda with making of good laws and performance of oversight functions.
Rt. Hon. Aribasoye said Senator Bamidele’s loyalty to his party, progressive ideology, his mentor President Tinubu and to the cause of the Nigerian cause has eventually paid off.
He prayed God to grant Senator Bamidele wisdom, knowledge, understanding and sound health to discharge the responsibilities attached to the new office to which he has just ascended.
The Speaker said: “On behalf of principal officers, legislators, management and staff of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, I offer heartfelt congratulations to a worthy Ekiti ambassador, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele.
“We are confident that he will prove his mettle, justify the confidence reposed in him and use the position to help realize the Renewed Hope agenda.”
