The Ekiti State Chapter of People With Disabilities (PWDs) has honoured the Chairman of Ado-Central Local Council Development Area, Engr Augustine Oluwatoyin Ojo with an outstanding award.
Ojo’s recognition falls on the 2024 International Day for People With Disabilities held at Lady Jibowu Hall, Government House, Ado Ekiti during the week where the Council boss was honoured for his exceptional commitment to caring for People With Dsabilities (PWDs) in his council area.
December 3rd, is a day set aside globally to promote the rights and well-being of PWDs, raise awareness about their situation, and advocate for inclusivity in all aspects of society
In her remarks at the event ,the Special Adviser to the Ekiti State Governor on Special Education & Social Inclusion, Princess Adetoun Agboola commended the Council Chairman for demonstrating remarkable commitment to the people going above and beyond to provide for their needs.
.She lauded Engr .Toyin Ojo for his lofty initiative and policy aiming at enhancing the living standard of PWDs in his council area.
Adetoun credited Ojo for domesticating the social security scheme of the state government by paying stipends to PWDs every month describing the gestures as noble which has earned him Outstanding PWDs Friendly Local Government Chairman in the state noting that such a scheme is inspiring while calling for the sustainability of the programme .
Her words: “This award is given to the Outstanding PWDs Local Government Chairman .All our chairmen you see here today, they are outstanding and doing very well.They brought their people here ,they sewed adire for their people …. We appreciate all the Councils’ chairmen “

By himself, he created an opportunity for PWDs to receive grants every month .Those PWDs within his LCDA are getting something every month. He is there for them to support them in everything. You keep hearing about his name all the time for good

Presenting the award, the Secretary to the Ekiti State Government, Dr. Habibat Adubiaro applauded the Chairman for making the welfare of the vulnerable groups, particularly People With Dsabilities a top concern while urging him not to deviate from the progressive initiative that earned him such a profound recognition.
In his chat with newsmen shortly after the receipt of the award ,Ojo expressed appreciation to the body for the recognition vowing to continue to pay adequate attention to whatever that would make life worth living for them .
It should be recalled that Ojo right from the beginning of his second term in office has commenced the payment of monthly stipends to the elderly and people with disabilities in his council area to ameliorate their sufferings .
