Ekiti State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Sola Adebayo, has assured residents of Iworoko, Are and Afao Ekiti communities that the Ekiti Ring Road Phase I has been restructured to avert demolition of houses in the communities that the construction works would pass through.
Mr. Adebayo who gave the assurance in a press statement signed by Director of Press, Ministry of Works, Kunle Ajayi in Ado Ekiti, stressed the commitment of the Biodun Oyebanji administration to the general well-being of the people while rapidly developing the State.
He added that the State Government would not do anything that would jeopardize the economy, peace and tranquillity of the people.
Adebayo assured that the Government would not compromise on standards; adding that going by International best practice, a ring road is a road or a series of connected roads encircling a town, city or country.
He emphasized that the most common purpose of a ring road is to assist in reducing traffic volumes in the urban centres, by offering an alternative route around the city for drivers who do not need to stop in the city centre. It is also meant to open up new development areas.
According to him, the focus is to develop the State and improve the lot of the people using efficient techniques, methods, processes or technology to contain waste and keep the people and the environment safe.
He solicited the continued support and understanding of all stakeholders, stressing the need for residents of the State to take ownership of projects in their respective domains, with the culture of collective responsibility to protect their interests.
