PROF AGATHA OGUNKORODE’S DAY OF JOY

For Prof (Revd Sr) Agatha Ogunkorode, Saturday June 3, was not just a day of celebration but a moment of commendation for her hardwork, diligence and purposeful Christian life as she threw a lavish thanksgiving party to mark her elevation to professorial cadre.

A trained nurse, Ogunkorode recently bagged her Professor of Nursing from Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) climaxing her meritorious journey in the academia spanning four decades with two PhDs and several honours in the ivory tower.

In recognition of her great feat, the Sisters of St Michael and the Archangel in collaboration with proud Ogunkorode family of Ado Ekiti called friends, family and well wishers to a thanksgiving Mass held at St Fidelis Catholic Church Ojido at the weekend.

As early as 11am, the auditorium of the church was filled to capacity with congregation of well wishers as well as bevy of beautiful sisters of St Michael and the Archangel celebrating one of their own.
The presiding priest, Father Aduloju who delivered a sermon spoke glowingly about Professor Ogunkorode as a thorough bred Catholic faithful who has devoted her entire life to the service of God and humanity.
The Catholic Bishop of Ekiti diocese Bishop Felix Ajakaye who was represented by a senior priest lauded the achievement of the celebrant which he described as outstanding and the result of hardwork, focus and determination noting that the Professor of Nursing has made the church proud while throwing the challenge to other sisters to emulate the same attitude.
In her vote of thanks, Prof Agatha thanked all that graced the occasion for honouring her by their presence adding that she owed her success in her pursuits in the academic to God and her very supportive family.
Dignitaries at the occasion included wife of the founder of ABUAD, Yeye Aare Afe Babalola, Bishop Emeritus, Bishop Michael Fagun, Bishop Felix Ajakaye, Prof (Mrs) Ojo, Head Department of Nursing ABUAD, Chief Samuel Akinyede the Asamo of Ado Ekiti the Ogunkorode family led by Barrister Ose Ogunkorode, Catholic sisters amongst others.
