The Director General, Bureau of Community Communications, Mrs Mary Oso-Omotoso has hosted key components in the information management across the Local Government Areas in the State.

The stakeholders meeting which comprises Local Government Information Officers and Community officers was held yesterday at Lady Jibowu Hall Governor’s Office to deliberate on crucial role of information managers on government policies and programs.

In her opening address, the DG welcomes the participants to the first interactive session of the large audience in year 2024 expressing her appreciation to the support and collaboration given to the Governor Biodun Oyebanji-led administration by the information stakeholders.
She charged them to be proactive in terms of communication and information sharing concerning government activities, development strides and even on security matters.
Omotoso took time to introduce an officer from Nigerian Civil Defence Service Corps who according to her is the State officer of People Living with Disabilities (PWDs).

On the trending discussions about some government projects such as the ring road and flyover bridge, the Governor’s aide disabused the minds of some critics of the projects who were insinuating that in the face of hardship government is building roads at the expense of other amenities for the people.

“As information managers, it is our duty to help the government by giving accurate information to the public as well as guiding against misinformation. Take for instance there is hardship in the country but it is the same members of the public that would ask questions: what happened to salary and pension? what happened to electricity? what happened to road construction and so on. In a nutshell, once there is hardship anywhere, people would still demand for physical infrastructure in addition to stomach infrastructure and the development we are craving for will not just happened if we don’t prepare for it.
“Development begets development, the ring road and the flyover bridge are two major projects that will work together. Ekiti is big and if we want more development, investments and conducive business environment, we have to prepare for the future and ensure that we are ready to absorb what development can bring for us” she concluded.

The meeting later went into interactive session where information officers applauded the office of Community Communications Bureau for providing an avenue for seamless and effective communication window between the government and people at the grassroots for better understanding of government policies and programs while pledging their total support and cooperation with the bureau of Community Communications as demanded by the mandate of their professional duties.
