OYEBANJI SEEKS CONFIRMATION OF MEMBERS OF JUDICIAL SERVICE COMMISSION, CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSIONS’ NOMINEES

  • Appoints Architect Temitope Oni as DG, Ekiti State Bureau of Asset Management subject to concurrence of the House.

At the Plenary sitting of Monday 22nd July, 2024, the Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Stephen Aribasoye, read to the members the correspondences from Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji seeking for confirmation of some nominees for State appointments.

The Speaker announced the appointment of Architect Temitope Oni as the DG, Ekiti State Bureau of Assets Management by Governor and that the appointment needs the concurrence of the House. The Speaker directed the Acting Clerk of the House to inform the Nominee to submit 30 copies of his Curriculum Vitae to the House and that the House Committee on Trade and Investment to have an interface with the nominee on or before 30th July, 2024.

The Speaker also announced the appointment of the following people as members of Judicial Service Commission aside the ex-officio members by the Governor;

  1. Mr Ayodele Esan Esq.
  2. ⁠Mr Kabir Akingbolu Esq.
  3. ⁠His Royal Highness, Oba Babalola

The Speaker noted that the appointment is subject to the confirmation of the House. He directed the Acting Clerk to inform the nominees to submit 30 copies of their Curriculum Vitae each and their screening to be done by the Conmittee of the Whole House on a date to be announced later by the Committee on Rules and Business.

The Speaker also announced the appointment of the following nominees as Chairman and members of Civil Service Commission by the Governor.

1 Chairman – Sir Olubunmi Famosaya

  1. Chief S. O. Kayode
  2. ⁠Engr. Tunde Fakoyede
  3. ⁠Mr. Azeez Awoyoku
  4. ⁠Prof Sunday Tunde Akindele

The Speaker further noted that the appointment is subject to the confirmation of the House. He directed the Acting Clerk to inform the nominees to submit 30 copies of their Curriculum Vitae each and their screening to be done by the Conmittee of the Whole House on a date to be announced later by the Committee on Rules and Business.

The House at the plenary considered the motion calling on the State Government to procure Power Tillers; a more affordable and handy agricultural equipment.

The Mover of the Motion, Hon. Femi Akindele (Irepodun/Ifelodun I), stated that Power Tiller as a mini tractor or subcompact tractor is affordable, durable, versatile, fuel efficient, transportable, with multiple attachment options.

“That the State Government should purchase power tillers in other to achieve the desired self-sufficiency in food production.
All Local Governments should prioritize agriculture by purchasing these affordable mini tractors to boost farm produce.”

The Speaker committed the Motion to House Committee on Agriculture for further legislative process and to come out with further proposed resolutions for the consideration of the House.

The House received the Report of House Committee on Security and Special Duties on the Petition of the Nigeria Constabulary Police and adopted same as the working document of the House. The Speaker informed members that the Report would be considered by Members on the allotted date to be set by Committee on Rules and Business.
