OYEBANJI ORDERS ADDITIONAL FABRICATED DINO BINS TO CURB INDISCRIMINATE WASTE DISPOSAL

Against the backdrop of apparent link between a clean environment and healthy living , Governor Oyebanji has stepped up more positive measures geared towards achieving a cleaner Ekiti beginning from Ado Ekiti, the State capital .

This was apart from allocating resources and providing support to relevant agencies to tackle environmental challenges beforehand, the Governor has also emphasized the importance of citizen compliance to environmental laws to ensure the effectiveness of government interventions.

Oyebanji, while inspectiing the newly fabricated waste dino bins has announced that additional dino bins be fabricated and subsequently approved funding for the fabrication.

This is in a bid to curb indiscriminate waste disposal across the state and make Ekiti clean .

Meanwhile, thehe first set of the bins are poised for strategic placement this week by the Ekiti State Waste Management Authority (EKSWAMA).

Recalled tha the Office of Community Communications, in collaboration with EKSWAMA, on Tuesday, (yesterday) convened key stakeholders drawn from the proposed locations where the bins would be placed which are mainly market areas .

Key points of the engagement include :

  • get their opinions on the proposed locations so as to make adjustment where necessary.
  • Sensitize them on the acceptable method of waste disposal
  • share with them information about environmental laws and commencement of enforcement immediately after the placement of dino bins .
  • brief them on their roles and responsibilities as market / community leaders .

The event was attended by dignitaries including the Hon. Commissioner for Environment , Chief (Mrs) Tosin Aluko , Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun; Director-General EKSWAMA , Hon. Sunkanmi Onipede , Director- General Office of Community Communications, Mrs. Mary Oso-Omotosho; Permanent Secretary Ministry Of Environment, Mr Alokan , General Manager EKSWAMA, Engr. Ayoola Osalusi; SSA Social Development, Hon. Funmi Adeyemo , SA Values Orientation,all SSAs & SAs in the Community Communications among others.
