The Ogun State Government has strongly condemned the actions of popular hip-hop artist, Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, over his unruly behavior toward officials of the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA). The incident occurred at his bar in the Iyana Ilogbo area of Ota, where he allegedly disrupted government operations.
According to report from The Nation, in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, Portable was described as a habitual troublemaker with a history of assaulting government officials without provocation. Akinmade expressed the government’s dismay over the attack carried out by Portable and his associates, labeling their actions as unacceptable and barbaric. He emphasized that such behavior would not be tolerated and that the law would take its course against those involved.
He further stated that Portable’s repeated acts of misconduct have become an embarrassment to both the residents of the area and the state government. The frequent chaos and panic caused by the artist’s actions have made his behavior intolerable.
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to maintaining law and order, Akinmade stressed that Governor Dapo Abiodun’s government is determined to uphold decency and discipline across all sectors of the state. He reiterated that the administration is dedicated to preserving the values of the Omoluabi ethos principles of respect, responsibility, and moral uprightness.
Akinmade noted that the government was appalled by the latest incident, which took place on Wednesday at Portable’s bar. He condemned the attack by the artist and his group of miscreants on OGPDPA officials, describing it as a disgraceful act that reflects a complete disregard for the state’s core values.
Governor Abiodun, according to Akinmade, has categorically denounced Portable’s behavior, calling it primitive and unacceptable. The governor reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring justice and equality in the state, stating that anyone who violates the law, regardless of their social status or influence, would be held accountable.
The Ogun State Government made it clear that it will not condone lawlessness and will take appropriate action against those who disrupt public order. The administration remains focused on fostering a just and disciplined society, where individuals are held responsible for their actions in accordance with the law.
