The curtains will today fall on the second edition of Ekiti Obas Youth Football Championship as Elekole FC faces Oniye FC in the final.
The final match will be decided at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium by 12 noon as the chairman , Ekiti Obas Council, Oba Gabriel Adejuwon, Onisan of Isan-Ekiti will lead other royal fathers to the occasion.
Also expected are government dignitaries led by the representative of the governor and sports stakeholders across the state.
12 teams started the Ekiti Obas Cup about 2 weeks ago while the two teams in the final are tutored by familiar coaches.
While Elekole FC is tutured by coach Ademola Agbana, Oniye FC is tutured by coach Blessing as both teams paraded two different teams that played in the final of the maiden edition in 2022.
Aside the trophy for the eventual champions, medals for both teams are guaranteed while there will also be scholarship packages from some royal fathers and philanthropists.
The grand prize for the Ekiti Obas Cup Season 2 was raised by prominent personalities of Ado Ekiti extraction on behalf of Ewi, Oba Rufus Adejugbe while the prize money for the runners up is being raised by prominent personalities from Iyin Ekiti on behalf of Oluyin, Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaiye.
Outgoing chairman, Ekiti Obas Council, oba Gabriel Adejuwon alongside some other royal fathers are also expected to give out academic scholarship to encourage the education of young talents in the competition.
Meanwhile, all the selected outstanding youngsters discovered during the competition will be unveiled at the final today while corporate partners of the tournament are expected to support one way or the other.
Other teams that started the Ekiti Obas Cup Season 2 included Ewi FC, Onifisin FC, Alara FC, Onijan FC, Arajaka FC,
Alaworoko FC, Ologotun FC, Apeju FC, Oloye FC, Onisan FC.
Organizers of the youth soccer competition will also reward some personalities for their rare passion towards encouraging youth and sprouts development in Ekiti State.
Owatapa FC tutured by coach Ademola Agbana won the 2022 edition after edging out Apeju FC on penalties at the final.
