The Police in Ado-Ekiti, on Thursday, arraigned 27-year-old Adeniyi Ayomide before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for alleged stealing and assault.
Ayomide, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and assault.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences with some others still at large on December 17 in Ifaki-Ekiti.
Adeniyi said that the defendant stole one iPhone 11 promax, worth N345,000, belonging to Mr Adewaye Temitope.
He said that the defendant and his accomplices also beat-up the complainant.
Adeniyi said that the offences contravened Sections 302(1) (a) and 187(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to assemble his witnesses.
Defence Counsel, Mr Tolu Bewaji, urged the court to grant his client bail, promising that he would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Mrs Dolapo Babalogbon, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety, in like sum.
