MAJOR SHAKE UP IN EKITI UNITED, 8 PLAYERS OUT, 10 PLAYERS DROPPED TO FEEDERS

Following the abysmal performance of the Ekiti United FC in the just concluded first stanza of the Nigeria National Football League 2023/24, the Management has resolved to axe some players while some are to be relegated to the Feeders Team.

At a crucial Management meeting held on Monday, it was revealed that at least 18 out of the 38 players registered with the team for the season will no longer be with the main team forthwith.

According to information from the club secretariat, at least 8 players considered surplus to requirements have been shown the way out while 10 players with prospects but not enough experiences were dropped to the Feeders Team.

The 20 players left in the main team are to be joined by invited tested players from different top football clubs across the country while the team begins intensive training on Tuesday.

Some friendly matches to assess the fresh legs will be played as from Wednesday while the coaching crew has the matching order to perform or face the music.

Having faltered in their last three matches especially two consecutive home matches prior to the end of the NNL first stanza, Ekiti United are 9th on the 12 team table there by steering relegation in the face.

The struggle for survival will begin next week Sunday when they play host to the League leaders, Madiba FC who pipped them 2 nil on the last day of the first stanza.

In the meantime, the entire management team and technical crew have been urged to brace up and avoid any slip in the second stanza of the league in a bid to end the season on a high.

The Special Assistant to Ekiti State governor on Sports Development, Hon.Tunde Adesanya gave the charge during an interactive session with Ekiti United FC Media crew.

Hon Adesanya who has been keenly following the team since his appointment said nothing short of Super 8 qualification would justify the massive support from the governor and government of Ekiti State.

He assured that the State governor would boost the morale of the players and the staff if drastic improvement is recorded in subsequent matches.
