LATE CHIEF PHILIP AKINYEDE HONOURED IN DEATH AT 10TH AFE BABALOLA BENEFICIARIES DAY

For his meritorious and selfless service to the people of Ado Ekiti and humanity during his life time,
Late Chief Philip Akinyede was yesterday given a post humous award at the 10th anniversary of Aare Afe Babalola Beneficiaries World wide.

The epochal event was held at the main bowl of the Ewi’s Palace which attracted a large crowd of people who graced the occasion.

Ranked among the departed illustrious Ado Ekiti sons like late Lt. Colonel Adekunle Fajuyi, Chief Lawrence Omolayo, Chief Oduola Osuntokun the organizer of the event and publisher of Kayegbo magazine, Chief Ogunniyi Morakinyo said of the awardees: “These nation builders and philanthropists deserve post humous awards for their exemplary contributions to humanity”

In addition, he declared that “Their names will also be on the marble of Afe Babalola Hall of fame and Garden at Okemesi Ekiti Hillside”

According to a family source, late Chief Philip Akinyede’s parents were Late Chief Joseph Fanimugbode and Late Princess Oja Olapegba Fanimugode of Ewi Royal Dynasty.

His sibling was Late Pa Dominic Ogunkorode (the father of Ekiti Standard’s publisher)

Kayode Charles Akinyede who received the award on behalf of the family is the last grand child of the great Akinyede’s dynasty of Odo Ado and works with the Corporate Affairs Commission.

The Akinyedes were all past Asamo of Ado-Ekiti from Fanimugode who reigned between 1928 and 1942.Philip Akinyede 1942- 1962, and John Babafemi Akinyede 1966 -2000.
