IPOTI DAY: ELDER AROGUNDADE SHOWS LOVE FOR COMMUNITY, APPLAUDS OYEBANJI ON GOOD GOVERNANCE

By Editor

He shunned the toga of unrepentant critic of bad governments and a public affairs analyst for once last Saturday as Elder Ayo Arogundade took a new job of MC extraordinaire at the 27th Ipoti Day celebration in his home town, Ipoti Ekiti in the Irede LCDA.

The retired librarian was the cynosure of all eyes as he thrilled the audience with his oratorial prowess when reading the citations of those conferred with chiftaincy tittles by the Olupoti, HRM Oba Oladipupo James Kolade laced with rib cracking jokes and hyperboles that were clearly out of this world.

In a brief chat with our correspondent Elder Arogundade minced no words identifying with his community.

“I’m a community man and an
activist” he says. “I want the best for my community called Ipoti Ekiti, a reputable community in the north eastern part of Yorubaland. So, I’m elated because every year we gather like this, is to do what I can call reunion and fund raising to develop our community. We jollificate together in unison even as Ipoti sons and daughters from across the globe come together to celebrate Ipoti Day and to bring development to our father land because government can not do it alone. So we have to support the government by developing our own community by ourselves. That is why I’m elated on a day like this”

The Public Affairs analyst responding to another question on his assessment of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s led administration in the past two years said;

“Biodun Oyebanji, the Governor of Ekiti state is an Administrator with Native intelligence. An Home grown gentleman whose administration for the past two years has been of benefits to Ekiti people in the areas of Human capital development and Infrastructure. He easily communicates and relates directly with average Ekiti kete so as to get direct feedback of his administration.
“While he makes the welfare of the people his priority, I want to appeal to him not to forget the retirees of the BOUESTI Ikere Ekiti who are yet to collect their gratuity for close to thirty years and to make Ado Ekiti Airport a success story” he said
