The newly appointed Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Honourable Peju Babafemi has reiterated her commitment to serve and give her best to the development of the Ministry and the people of Ekiti State.

Speaking to the press as she resumed in her office on Monday, Hon. Babafemi expressed her gratitude to God Almighty and also, His Excellency, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for having confidence in her and for appointing her as a Commissioner in Ekiti State.

Speaking further, she said her first meritorious service to Ekiti State as Permanent Secretary and Head of Service then was all about Public Service because she served as Civil Servant but now she is in a political space even though everything still boils down to serving the people genuinely.

She noted that what is critical is for her to have the right mind set to serve in order to conform with the instructions which the Governor has been telling them since inauguration to give their best shots to the job and support him in achieving the goals and the governance agenda of his administration.

While assuring of her readiness to serve, Hon. Babafemi said, “I believe it is a privilege for me to be in government and I should do my best in ensuring that I make tangible impact on the lives of the people particularly, women, children, the elderly and the vulnerable people with disabilities.
” So l see it as a call to service not about me but about what I am bringing to the table, the impact I am making or I would make on the people and honestly I am ready to give the job my best shots.”

The Commissioner expressed her joy for reuniting with the staff of the ministry where she once served as a Permanent Secretary and reiterated her desire to work with them.

“I know quite a number of them, I was once here as Permanent Secretary, so, it is a great joy for me reuniting with them and like I told them, I know that a lot of them have capacities but as a leader, I am supposed to provide direction for them and to live by example.” She said.

Speaking further, she said she expects the staff of the ministry to do more because it is not business as usual if the Governor could stay with them throughout the period of the retreat shows a signal that everyone must be ready to work and to do his or her best.

She noted that as the leader of the ministry, it is her responsibility to dictate the pace and the tune of the music and by the grace of God she will provide the right leadership and ready to work with everyone with large heart.

Babafemi noted that for every organisation, there are challenges and there are opportunities and that is why leaders are there to confront the challenges and to achieve this she is ready to work together with the staff as one.

“I will listen to them and I will also get their inputs in terms of recommendations. We are going to work with Civil Society Organisations, is not going to be a silo- mentality kind of administration we are going to reach out to stakeholders, seek inputs from them, seek guidance from them and also collaborate with them because when we collaborate, looking at our challenges together, where there is a will, there is always a way so we will overcome our challenges,” she concluded.
