The joy in the eyes of communities making up Irede LCDA knew no bounds on Tuesday as the Chairman of the council area, Hon. Ayo Awe distributed bags of rice as palliatives to his constituents as part of measures put in place by Governor Biodun Oyebanji-led administration to curb high cost of food in the state.
At an elaborate gathering of representatives from each of the five communities in the LCDA held at Ipoti Ekiti, the Council boss in an address, expressed gratitude to the people for their continuing support to the government of Ekiti State since it came on board in 2022 noting that the Governor Biodun Oyebanji-led administration is committed to the welfare of the good people of Ekiti State.
According to him, “Governor Biodun Abayomi is touched by the hardship in the country especially the astronomical increase in food prices that is affecting many homes and so he has decided cushion the effect of the hardship by making provision for the palliatives we are distributing today”
He then urged representatives of each community to deliver the rice to the right beneficiaries in their different localities.
The palliatives were later distributed to representatives of the following towns according to the number allocated to them; Ipoti, Odo-Owa Ejiyan and Owatedo.
Chief R A Emila and Mr Femi Osoaro, PRO Ipoti Community Development Council ICDC in a separate interview appreciated the Governor for the laudable initiative which they desribed as timely intervention coming at a time when prices of foodstuffs are beyond the reach of the common man
Others present during the distribution of the paliatives include community leaders, Baales and top officers of the LCDA
