The palace of paramount ruler, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe, the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, on Monday received candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr Wole Oluyede, who paid a courtesy visit to the reverred monarch in continuation of his state wide consultation on his ambition to run for the office of governor of Ekiti State.
The first class traditional ruler was in his full element as he warmly received Oluyede, his wife, Mrs Kemi Oluyede and his running mate, Mrs Hidiat Simbo Popoola.
Others in his entourage include ADC State Chairman, Mr Bamgboye Adegoroye and a host of other top party chieftains and loyalists.
Oba Adejugbe was accompanied by his Council of Chiefs during the warm reception.
The governorship hopeful in his address, took the royal audience to the memory lane on the sanctity of the Yoruba traditional institution and it’s relevance.
Oluyede commended the template laid down by the founding fathers and the efforts of Ekiti heroes past, who were able to see beyond their time to sow the seed of education which has today blossomed into fertile development of minds, souls and the attendant positive results on human capital development.
He bemoaned the present day realities where tradition, culture and values are fast depleting as a result of governmental ineptitudes and cluelessness.
Oluyede lamented the gradual depletion of Ekiti State to a state which relies heavily on Federal allocation saying that such should be discouraged while the state by now should graduate to the level of wealth creation that will take people out of poverty and hopelessness.
The medical doctor-turned politician, said he was appalled by the present situation and his coming on board at this critical time is majorly to make a difference in governance and rejig the productive sector to pave way for Ekiti economic redemption.
He condemned the ongoing high level of joblessness in the state, noting that it is time to create an enabling environment where businesses can thrive .
According to the ADC flag bearer, if he is voted to power, his government will pay attention to key areas of security, health, education and also provide enabling environment for investors to thrive in the state.
Oba Adejugbe in his response, thanked Oluyede for his deep knowledge of problems bedeviling the state as he offered royal blessings to Oluyede’s team.
