ELEMO CHIEFTAINCY TUSSLE: NO RETREAT AS CHIEF OMOTUNDE PAUL HEADS FOR SUPREME COURT

The protracted legal tussle over the Elemo Oraye Quarters of Ise Ekiti chieftaincy title has taken a new dimension as Chief Omotunde Paul, the present Elemo Oraye of Ise Kingdom has approached the apex Court for final arbitration following a notice of appeal he filled against the decision of Appeal Court Ekiti judicial division delivered on July 22, 2024.

Joined in the suit with ref. No SC\SC\CV\945\2024 is HRM, Oba Ayodele Adetunji Ajayi the Arinjale of Ise Ekiti and Mr Kayode Oguntuase, Mr Akinyemi Oguntuase, Mr Ojo Adu Oguntuase and PA Samuel Ajayi Fapounda as the defendants in the suit.

The appellant, as part of grounds of application wants the enforcement of the judgement of the trial court which was delivered on September 27, 2021 in his favour.

However, dissatisfied with the judgement of the trial court, the respondents appealed to the Court of Appeal, Ekiti judicial division which on July 22, 2024 set aside the earlier ruling in a suit no: HIS/02/2018.
Although no date had been fixed for hearing, the legal battle promises to be a test case in vibrant jurisprudence as Messirs Ahmed Raji (SAN) and Adekunle Sobaloju lead other senior lawyers in the defence team.
