The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Ekiti state Wing has distanced itself from the publication in circulation that the governor of Ekiti state, Gov Oyebanji has denied teachers 2022 and 2023 promotion .
The chairman of NUT, Ekiti state, Comrade Daodu Bamidele Olaitan in a statement denounced the report, saying the report did not emanate from the leadership of the union, urging the general public to disregard the publication.
According to Ekiti NUT chairman “The leadership of Ekiti NUT, had met Governor Oyebanji on the promotion of secondary school teachers for 2022/2023 and the governor had promised to address the matter. At no time have we had any rift with the governor on this issue. We believed in his leadership, so we have no doubt about his promise to look into the matter. Governor Oyebanji is the most teachers’ friendly in the history of Ekiti state .
The governor since he assumed office in 2022, has prioritized teachers welfare, provided a conducive atmosphere for learning and above all he has ensured that teachers not only enjoy all the benefits accrued to civil servants but are at par with their contemporaries in the civil service.
Comrade Olaitan commended Governor Oyebanji for given priority to welfare of civil servants including teachers, saying his commitment to workers’welfare is second to none.
Comrade Daodu urged Ekiti teachers to remain calm, saying, their rights and privileges would always be protected, while calling on the people of Ekiti state to disregard such publications that are capable of pitching the union against the governor.
