Ekiti fish farmers under the aegis of Fisheries and Aquaculture Farmers Association (FAFAEK) Ekiti State chapter has rolled out a detailed action-packed program commemorating the 2024 edition of World Fisheries Day.
The epoch making event which is slated for Thursday November 21, 2024 will showcase the strength and
unity of over 1000 fish farmers across the 16 Local Governments and 22 LCDAs in Ekiti.
The Association at a stakeholders meeting of representatives from each local government held in Ado Ekiti last Thursday, strategized on how to make the day a memorable one.
Dr. E. T. Adebayo Ffs (PhD) who doubles as the chairman of the association and General Secretary to the Fisheries Society of Nigeria (FISON) presided over the meeting.
He outlined the schedule of the Day’s program which begins at Fajuyi Pavilion in the morning as members will hold a brief seminar before embarking on a road show to designated spots in the state capital like the Secretariat, Okeyinmi enroute ijigbo where procession will make a detour to Governor’s Office for a courtesy visit to Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
LOC Chairman, Amb. Femi Adeoye in his remarks, implored members to be punctual and be more committed as the large turn out of members on the day will add honour and more recognition to the Association.
Mrs Omowunmi Awe who is the Welfare Director for the program and the association’s Treasurer assured all the stakeholders of her preparedness to ensure that the overall wellbeing of members is adequately addressed throughout the one-day program.
In a response, all the local government coordinators affirmed their top notch readiness to give the maiden edition of the program the best of their abilities.
Dr Adebayo in his closing remarks, reassured the Association’s members of efforts being put in place to empower and encourage intending members to key in to the moving train of the professional Association while urging concerned members on prompt fulfilment of their pledges.
