Another Ekiti athlete has proven to the world that the State is blessed with lots of untapped talents in Sports by defying all odds to write his name, the name of Ekiti and Nigeria in gold in far away Morocco.
The athlete named Tunde Adewole is a partially blind runner, who has been in the spotlight for over 3 years consistently by winning laurels for Ekiti State at different levels.
This time, Adewole went to Morocco to contest at the International Paralympics Qualifiers and grabbed a gold and a silver to qualify as a Nigerian representative at the forthcoming Paris Paralympics Games in France later in the year.
The Ado Ekiti -born OND holder from the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti won gold in 200 metre T12 event and silver in 100 metre event for partially blind runners.
The National Sports Festival Gold medalist expressed excitement at the feat returning all glory to God and appreciation to his coach and supporters at home and beyond.
He said his utmost desire now is to formally present the Paralympics Qualifiers medals to the Sports loving governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and his wife with a view to appreciate their impressive passion towards developing sports in the State.
Tunde Adewole says the preparations have begun for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games as he depends on God, government and kind hearted philanthropists for him to train effectively and eventually make the trip to France to represent Nigeria .
He’s billed to return to Ekiti State in the coming days and hopes to reach out to the Sports aides to the governor and other stakeholders who could help him actualize his vision.
