The ruling All Progressives Congress APC in Ekiti has a meeting of the extended State Executive Council of the party.
According to a press statement by the party’s spokesperson, Segun Dipe, the body met with Party Chairman from all the 16 LGAs and resolved as follows:
- That the State Independent Electoral Commission, SIEC, has not released the time table/notice of election and guidelines for the 2023 Local Government Elections.
2 That until the above is done, our party cannot flag off campaigns for the elections, neither can we request for expression of interest from any of our members.
- That it is premature for any member of our party to start campaigning for any position towards the Local Government elections until the party so declares.
- That any of our party members who decides to beat the gun and commence campaigning through any means be it pasting of postals Social Media, In-House, Door-to-Door campaign or on the social media or over the radio, will be violating the rules and does so at his or her peril. Such a person cannot be said to be representing or contesting on the platform of our party, APC. He or she thus stands disqualified.
- There should be strict compliance with the table tables of both the SIEC and our party, APC.
