EKITI AMOTEKUN NABS NIGHT GUARD, SIBLINGS FOR STEALING, BURGLARY

Operatives of Ekiti State Amotekun Corps, have apprehended a night guard simply identified aa Joshua Nawjul, at Agric Olope area in Ado Ekiti.

The 25 year-old indigene of Plateau State was caught in the nefarious act by men of Gen. Olu Adewa-led Security outfit during a sting operation in the area.

In a press statement signed by the Corps’ Head Communication, Officer Adeleye Adewale, the suspect was arrested by Amotekun Operatives Ado Local Government of Ekiti Central Senatorial Command around 1:00 p.m on Saturday January 8, 2025 after stealing some valuable home items belonging to Hon. Babayemi Odunayo.

“Upon interrogation by the arresting Officers, the suspect confessed to the crime, revealing how he broke into the house of the owner carting away some of his property including a Plasma T.V (40 inches), Big generator, two (2) laptops and cable wire.

“He narrated how his elder brother aided and abetted him in the crime, as they both went to Atikankan to sell off the stolen property estimated to be N15m according to the owner, but the suspects out of desperation, decided to dispose the whole items for a meagre N70,000 while the money was hurriedly paid in his house on that day, before his plan suddenly fell through.

“The Complainant, Hon. Babayemi Odunayo, while narrating the incident, explained the suspect’s utter shock at his arrest by the operatives as he thought he had a smooth operation before luck run against him”.

He therefore lauded Ekiti Amotekun Corps for keeping criminals at bay in the state.

In a related development, two other suspects: John Wuyeb, 23, an indigene of Nassarawa State and 24-year-old Daniel Titus from Plateau State were apprehended in Oye-Ekiti same day for similar crime.

According to Amotekun Operatives in the Local Government, the duo were arrested for alleged stealing of baby materials such as: baby clothes, baby creams, baby pampers and other baby items belonging to one Mrs. Omoyajowo Opeyemi during a street patrol in the town.

However, the two suspects confessed to the crime upon interrogations saying they broke into the shop to steal the items.

The first suspect and the exhibits recovered from him has been handed over to the Ekiti State Police Command, while the latter suspects ware handed over to the Police in Oye Local Government for further investigation.
