In a major statewide patrol operations, the Amotekun Security operatives at various commands in Ekiti State had made successful arrest of suspected criminals caught in the act of breach of the law leading to the arrest of four suspects including Biremo Ojo, 21, Ojo Sunday 22, Sunday Achike 16, and Emmanuel Eriba, 30.
The four partners-in-crime were arrested at four local governments in Ekiti State within the last one week.
According to a press statement signed by the Command’s Head of Communication Department, Officer Adewale Adeleye, Biremo Ojo, a native of lsaba-Ekiti in lkole Local Government was arrested last Thursday having caught for stealing iron rods belonging to one Mr. Adeyemi, a resident in the same Local Government Area.
Another suspect, Ojo Sunday, native of Omuo-Ekiti,l who resides at Obasoore Area of the town allegedly stole a Bajaj motorcycle with, REG NO: FU4810H).
He was arrested at Tosa street in Odooro town of the said Local Government Area.
Similarly, On Saturday 21st December 2024, operatives arrested 16-year-old Delta-State- born Sunday Achike who resides in Oye Local Government for alleged involvement in burglary and attempted stealing which he committed in one of the shops at a Shopping Complex in Oye Local Government Area where he attempted phone theft.
An eyewitness and wife of the Amotekun Commander of the town (name withheld) who was at the scene of the incident said the suspect miscalculated when he jumped from the ceiling of the shop and fell on some bottles kept on the floor and the noise from the fall aroused the interest of neighbors, who promptly alerted the Amotekun Officers in the town.
The suspect however, confessed to the crime upon interrogations by the arresting Officers of Oye Local Government Command.
He claimed to be a student of Federal University of Oye-Ekiti FUOYE
The suspect, who sustained injuries following the fall, was immediately taken to the hospital of the town by the said Officers for necessary treatment.
Also yesterday, the operatives in Efon Alaaye Local Government Command nabbed two suspects: Emmanuel Eriba, 20 years old and a 30-year-old John Ogbam for conspiracy and theft.
The two suspects are residents of the town and hail from Benue State.
The duo were apprehended for alleged stealing of some yam tubbers and TVS motorcycle, owned by one Mr. Ajewole Segun at his farm.
Upon interrogation, the two suspects confessed to have committed the crime, stating their collusion and conspiracy against the complainant.
Meanwhile the four suspects have since been handed over, with all the exhibits recovered from them, to the police jurisdictions in their individual towns for further investigation.
