.. As State Assembly pledges Legislative Support for Projects

The Project Coordinator of Ekiti State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), Hon. Sunday Adunmo has disclosed that the Project would award more rural roads for construction before the year ends.
Adunmo made the disclosure while receiving the Ekiti State House of Assembly Committee on Agriculture and Food Security led by its Chairman, Hon. Abiodun Fawekun.
The Project Coordinator who stated that Ijero-Epe-Araromi-Iropora road and Ikole-Ikoyi-Igbemo road totalling 32km would be awarded for construction in a couple of weeks said another 152km backlog maintenance/rehabilitation of rural roads are in the pipeline.
Adunmo revealed that the Engineering Design for 450km of spots improvement is being done in preparation for contract award.
While speaking on the 13 roads which were recently awarded, the Project Coordinator said the Project has begun handing the roads over to the successful contractors and construction work would begin as soon as payment of compensation is completed by month end.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon Abiodun Fawekun said the visit was in line with the Committee’s oversight function and assured that the House of Assembly would provide necessary legislative support to fast track the actualisation of the objectives of the Project.
Fawekun who noted that Ekiti people had waited for 5 years for the commencement of the project said Ekiti State would record a major agricultural breakthrough if all the roads listed for intervention are constructed.
The lawmaker commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for providing counterpart fund for the Project.
He added that the Governor’s gesture is a demonstration of the commitment of his administration to its Agricultural and Rural Development agenda.
