Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has extended heartfelt condolences following the demise of the legendary actor and producer, Dejumo Lewis, at the age of 80. Lewis, renowned for his role as Kabiyesi in “The Village Headmaster,” Nigeria’s enduring television series from 1968 to 1988, passed away on Saturday.
In an official statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, Governor Oyebanji hailed the late actor as a luminary of television production during the ’70s and ’80s. Lewis’s indelible mark, particularly in “The Village Headmaster” series, earned him a special place in the hearts of viewers nationwide.
Late Dejumo Lewis, who hailed from Erijiyan Ekiti was lauded by the Governor as a reservoir of talent. The late actor, alongside his fellow cast members, redefined television drama, becoming household names in the process.
“Another iroko in the entertainment world has fallen. Dejumo Lewis was not just an actor; he was a man of distinction and a thoroughbred professional who deployed his skills in the development of the nation’s entertainment sector,” Governor Oyebanji expressed.
While Ekiti State, the Land of Honour, mourns the departed soul, the Governor emphasized that they find consolation in the impactful life Lewis lived, leaving an enduring legacy.
“Our prayer is that God would grant him eternal rest and console his family,” added Governor Oyebanji, acknowledging the significant contribution Lewis made to the entertainment industry
