The Executive Chairman Ado Central LCDA Engr Toyin Ojo has lauded the creation of Local Council Development Areas as the best thing to have happened in Ekiti State. He equally asserted that the coming on board of Governor Biodun Oyebanji at this time signals a positive development in the state.
He made the revelation in an exclusive interview with Ekiti Standard on Wednesday in his office.
The council boss who used the occasion to highlight some of the landmark achievements of his two-year old administration as the chairman noted that creation of new LCDA has brought governance closer to people at the grassroots.
Engr. Toyin Ojo who was in the news recently as the first LCDA Chairman in the state to have constructed and commissioned a befitting secretariat of the council in the first 100 days of assuming office said;
“I want to say this without any reservation that the creation of LCDAs is the best thing that has happened in Ekiti State.
“Take for instance if you were here about two years ago this place was a bush, a dumping site where they dump waste. The Health Centre over there was nothing to write home about. Look at the place today. They now run shifts. As I speak, I will be commissioning a borehole at Ward 8 Ereguru area by next week. If this LCDA has not been created, nobody would think of that axis because the main local council is far from here.The council would have been attended to the needs of the people close to them before thinking about people from this area. So in essence, I would say again that the creation of LCDAs is the best to have happened in Ekiti State because it has brought development to the grassroots, it has brought life to the grassroots and I want to advise my colleagues that any project we want to embark upon must have direct impact on the lives of the people”
Speaking in similar vein, Hon Ojo equally applauded the Ekiti State Governor Mr Biodun Oyebanji describing him as God sent and the best thing to happen to the state at this time.
His words; “I’ve said this severally at different fora that the best thing that has happened to Ekiti is Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji we can never have had it so good. Indeed he is God sent. All the projects I have done so far were to the glory of Governor Abayomi Oyebanji because if he had not released funds to us we won’t be able to do anything. With him, you just have to send the list of your projects to him and if he sees that the project is a good one, he would not waste time on it before releasing money not only that, he would monitor you to make sure you deliver on the project. That is the kind of governor we have. He has really put us on our toes and I can say that there is healthy competion amongst us because if he’s a governor that doesn’t care, we won’t have this kind of competition because if the council is working, the state is progressing and the governor will have peace of mind. My prayer is that God would spare his life and protect him and members of his family” he said
