CDS TO TROOPS: DEFEAT ALL ENEMIES OF STATE TO HONOUR LAGBAJA

Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), says troops of the Nigerian Army should rededicate themselves to defeating enemies of the state to honour Taoreed Lagbaja, the late chief of army staff (COAS).

Lagbaja died after battling an undisclosed ailment. He was 56 years of age.

Musa spoke on Friday at the National Military Cemetery during the burial of Lagbaja and urged the troops to use his death to commit themselves to the ideals he stood for.

“Let us ensure that his sacrifice and service continue to guide our steps as we defend this great nation,” NAN quoted the CDS to have said.

“We are going to use his passing away to resolve further to defeat all enemies of the state, wherever they are, whether within or outside.

“As we lower him today into the embrace of the earth, let us raise our voices in prayer and gratitude for a life well lived.”

He described the late Lagbaja as a “family man, mentor, and friend, whose loss will be deeply felt.”

He noted the late COAS efforts in enhancing the army’s operational readiness and morale, adding that his faith, kindness, and humility went beyond his military achievements.

“His transition has left a void in the armed forces, the nation, and the lives of those who knew him,” Musa said.

Musa also assured Lagbaja’s family of the military’s support while urging them to find comfort in his “purposeful life and lasting legacy.
