Residents of Ekiti and the environs are billed to witness a thrilling experience watching the popular Ayo Olopon contest in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
The event, organised by the Ayo Olopon Global Tourism Festival Competition 2024 in collaboration with the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development and Ayo Olootu Group, Sweden is scheduled to hold between October 11-November 26, 2024.
According to a press statement by the organisers in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, the competition is open to all Nigerians with the sole aim of not only revitalizing the age old traditional game but to also export it to the global space showcasing its intricate strategies, cultural significance and inherent entertainment value.
The statement stated further; “Beyond the game proper, the festival will serve as a platform to celebrate and promote the vibrant tapestry of Yoruba culture and arts through various events, workshops, exhibitions and performances. We will highlight the rich tradition, music, dance, story telling and crafts that define our heritage”
Tickets for Ayo Olopon Global Tourism Festival are available for purchase starting from September 16, 2024 till October 6, 2024.
