Five days after his sudden death, family of the late Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC was yet to recover from the shock of the sad incident.
This was as his country home at Imesi Ekiti along Ikare road still wore a sombre look as hoards of sympathizers still thronged the late politician’s residence to condole with the family when our correspondent visited the town on Sunday.
His two wives who were seated at the expansive living room of the late politician receiving sympathizers were unable to grant press interview either prefering the family spokesperson to speak on behalf of the family.
In his lamentations, Hon. Adeyemo Adeoye Davis expressed shock at the sad incident saying he was with him few hours before his death
“His death was a big shock to every member of the family his friends both home and abroad because we didn’t expect his death at this time.
“He was lively even on that fateful day because he didn’t complain of anything about his health or something. I came to his house in the morning and met him eating bread. I was even the one who finished the bread
“I was with him till around 7.30 in the evening of that day when I told him I was going somewhere but he suggested that I could go some other time because it was getting late but I insisted on going so I left just the same time my junior brother walked in. About one hour later I was called and the sad news was broken and that was the end”
He debunked the claim that his brother’s death could be traced to his abduction by kidnappers sometimes last year.
“Nothing like that I can confirm to you because to say that at all, means that he must have been in and out of the hospital and there was nothing like that. He was hail and hearty. We went to the office together on that day and he later came to the Party Secretariat in Ado without showing any sign of illness whatsoever.
Adeyemo who doubles as the executive Chairman of Ayekire Local Government Area speaks further:
“His death is life time loss because I don’t know if God may come down and create his replacement. It’s a great loss not to the family alone but to the community because he was like a shining light to the entire community and APC family who was just cut short”
