BAO SCORES ANOTHER GOAL AS 3 EKITI ATHLETES MAKE AWARD WINNING NIGERIA’S TEAM

It is no longer news that Team Nigeria came first in the recently concluded ITF U-12 Junior Championship in both male and female categories, but what gladdens the heart is that 3 out of the 6 athletes that represented Nigeria are from Ekiti.

This is against the backdrop that for almost 10 years TeamNigeria has not been able to produce Champions in tennis competition at the international level.

The 3 Ekiti lucky champions included :1.Ogunsakin Seyi – Male,2. Samuel Gloria – Female 3. Aina Goodness – Female

It was thus a moment of jubilation at the Ekiti State Sports Commission on Tuesday when the General Manager on behalf of the Sports Commission received the victorious U-12 Tennis athletes after their successful outing at the just concluded ITF U-12 Junior Championship Qualifiers held in Ghana.

According to the GM, Ekiti Sports Commission; “This success is for Ekiti state . Also on their way back from Ghana, the team participated in another tournament in Lagos in which Gloria Samuel of Ekiti State came 2nd in the female U14 category”

The remarkable feat under Governor Oyebanji’s watch has shown a tremendous, progress in Sports especially in Tennis such that Ekiti State is now becoming the home of Tennis by producing both National and International Champions of recent recent.
