The chairman of Ado – Central Local Council Development Area, Ado Ekiti Engr.Toyin Ojo has reiterated his renewed commitment to work harder in delivering democracy dividends to the people of his council area.
He stated this in an address after been conferred with the prestigious award of Nigeria Local Government Chairmen Merit Award (LOGMA) 2023 following the remarkable strides recorded in the area of provision of portable water for the people and rural electrification projects categories.
The award was bestowed on him on Friday, November 24, 2023 alongside other twenty-one other council chairmen in Nigeria by the Landmark Magazine at the Nigeria National Merit Award House, Maitama Abuja.

The award, according to the Chairman Board of the Magazine, Chief Bayode Ojo was designed to showcase the achievements of the Councils’ helmsmen and reward excellence in grassroots governance.
He congratulated all the award winners for making the final list after rigorous scrutiny through spot-checking of some of their executed projects to ascertain the veracity of their claims .
Chief Ojo urged the awardees to continue to be the shining examples of sustainable growth at the grassroots and the country at large.
He called on the federal government to initiate processes that could lead to granting of financial autonomy to the local governments in the country to enable the leaders at the tiers to deliver on their mandates .

In his good will message at the well- attended event, the Honorable Minister of Special Duties & Inter Governmental Affairs, Rt. Hon. Zaphaniah Bitrus Jisalo represented by Mrs Ehujoh Patience lauded the Councils’ Chairmen for the steadfast commitment to the advancement of their various communities.
He noted that the event was not only a celebration of the dedicated leaders who have tirelessly served the local governments, but also a testament to the enduring spirit of excellence and selfless commitment to public service that has defined our great nation .
The Minister called on the Councils helmsmen to be re- committed to the principle of good governance, accountability and service to the people stated that through the principles, brighter future could be built for our beloved country .
Speaking after the conferment of the award, Engr. Ojo applauded the organizer for recognizing his administration’s commitment to provision of portable water at the grassroots,provision of rural electrification and other numerous people -oriented programmes .
He explained that the award would further spur him to work harder in pursuing people- centred programmes .

The awardee lauded the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Abayomi for giving the local governments free hands to operate in the state thereby make it possible for him to qualify for the receive of the coveted award.
The event was attended by the House of Representatives Member Hon.Steve Fatoba representing Ado- Irepodun Ifelodun Federal Constituent 1, Ekiti State Commissioner for Environment, Chief (Mrs) Tosin Aluko, representative of Senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District at National Assembly, Hon.Gbenga Banji, Vice Chairman to the Council, Mrs Abiodun Ogunmodede, Secretary to the Council, Princess Adeleye Adenike, Head of Local Government Administration (HLA) Com.Bodunde Taiwo and other APC party leaders in the state .
