Reno Omokri, a former presidential spokesman has condemned the Party’s Presidential candidate Peter Obi for castigating the Supreme Court for upholding the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Reacting to Obi’s assertion, Omokri said “Peter Obi may or may not be right that the Supreme Court undermined the confidence of Nigerians in the judiciary. That is an opinion.
Omokri argued that Obi cannot see the Supreme Court as good when he wins and bad when he loses.
According to Omokri ,the Supreme Court is infallible because it is final. For Peter Obi to attack them because he lost is to strike the foundation of our democracy.”
He flayed Obi for saying that the Supreme Court undermined the confidence of Nigerians in the judiciary.
Obi had broken his silence two weeks after the nation’s apex court nullified his petitions against the election of President Bola Tinubu.
He said the judgment of the apex court undermined the confidence of Nigerians in the Supreme Court.
“However, none of us should do anything to undermine confidence in the Supreme Court. Because they are the only barrier between us and anarchy.
“In the past, this same Supreme Court helped Peter Obi reclaim his mandate as Governor of Anambra. I remember vividly Peter Obi praising the Supreme Court then and calling it a defender of Nigeria’s democracy. What has changed between then and now?
