The entire legislative assembly comprising 24 APC members and two Social Democratic Party, SDP members also visited the Secretariat of the opposition party SDP, donating a cash gift to the party in a rare show of brotherliness and political maturity.

The members who were first led to the APC Secretariat in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye said the 7th assembly has been focused in ensuring Ekiti development and acting above party affiliations.

Aribasoye who spoke for the team noted that the 7th assembly has been united and exceptional in performance adding that all members had observed various constituency engagements to give back to the people.

He explained that the vehicle presentation followed the mentioning, by the APC leadership, of some major needs of the party when he and the governor visited, adding that the minority party group interestingly supported a collective purchase when the issue was brought up at one of their common meetings as assembly lawmakers.

The Acting State Chairman of the APC, Mr. Sola Elesin expressed surprise that the request was swiftly met in just about two weeks, saying the action and the type of unity seen within the 7th assembly was unprecedented.

The train thereafter proceeded to the SDP Secretariat where they were received by the state chairman of the party, Chief Dele Ekunola and other chieftains.

Ekunola described the visit of a ruling party dominated assembly team to an opposition party Secretariat on a friendly note as an unimaginable miracle in Nigerian politics.

He applauded the 7th assembly for its outstanding performance noting that SDP members within their fold have equally proved that they have a good background.

The assembly minority leader, Ayodele Ogunsakin pointed out that the gesture towards the two parties underlines the harmonious and family style embraced by the 7th assembly.

Aribasoye further justified the action of the lawmakers explaining that they see themselves as representatives of all their constituents irrespective of party affiliations adding that the house has never gagged the SDP members among them whom he also described as excellent in character and performance.

The Speaker who handed over a cash donation of half a million naira to the SDP leadership explained that the gesture towards both parties came from personal contributions of all the lawmakers.
