As the body of former Governor of Ondo State Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu would be committed to mother earth today, the Association of Yoruba community, Toronto Canada, has joined millions of Nigerians, Ondo State and especially Owo people in paying their last respect to the departed statesman.
Mr Michael Kehinde Abiodun, President of Yoruba Community Association, YCA Toronto GTA in a press statement, paid a glowing tribute to the late former Governor who he described as a “collosus, quintessential administrator, legal icon and mighty man in battle’
Abiodun said: “On behalf of members of Yoruba affiliates residing in Toronto, Canada I wish to join millions of Nigerians and the good people of Ondo State most especially Owo indigenes at home and in the Diaspora on the final journey home of our dear Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu whose mortal body would be interred today in his home town, Owo”
“The late Aketi has left an indelible legacy of selfless service, as a political colossus, a statesman par excellence, legal icon, visionary, astute leader and a great man in battle. Indeed your passing has left a big vacuum in the family of progressives in the south West as your relentless battle against injustice, equity and true federalism remain your worthy memorabilia”
“It is a pity that you left this side of the divide when your service was mostly needed at solving the myriads of problems plaguing the nation at present, but we took solace in the fact that your eventful years were spent on serving humanity and this was your ‘reasonable service’ according to the scripture”
“It is worthy of mentioning that the twilight of your life was devoted to securing Yorubaland from forceful encroachment by marauding messangers of death from the Sahel cumulating in the homegrown security outfit-The amotekun. It takes a man of courage, resilience, principle and capacity to dare the devil. But you came out strong on the side of law and morality in the face of powers and principalities of the Federal Government to secure your people for peace to reign in the entire Yorubaland. Indeed, Aketi truly lived and died in the service of humanity”
“As you go down the way of all flesh today, our prayers go to your immediate family, the entire Ondo State, Nigerian Governor’s Forum and the nation at large that the good Lord shall repose your ebullient spirit and give those you left behind the fortitude to bear the huge loss.
