ADO CENTRAL WINS GOLD AT EKIFEST 2024 EPIC WRESTLING FINAL

…As Engr. Toyin Ojo cheers winner to victory

Skillful and hard fighting Sunkami Fatomi, the wrestler representing Ado Central LCDA, yesterday clinched the overall winner of 2024 EKIFEST wrestling championship amid a tension soaked final tournament.

It was a a crowning glory for the golden boy who showed exceptional skill and technical superiority against his two opponents during the explosive encounter filled with suspence and much drama as spectators were held spellbound throughout the thrilling encounter.

The match opened with semi final fixture between Ado Central pairing with his opponent from Moba Local Government in a contest which gave Coach Wale the refree, a yeoman’s job deciding the winner as the duo were on dangerous tie for almost 40 minutes of the pulsating ding dong affair.

At last the refree announced the application of the golden rule after the expiration of the time limit which went in favour of Ado Central on points.

In the other fixture between Ifeloju LCDA and Ifelodun/Irepodun, Ifeloju emerged winner with 6 points to knock out his opponent.

The four finalists later went for 10 minutes break for the final encounter which pitched Ado Central with Ifeloju and Moba with Ifelodun Local Government.
Sunkami again, deplored his skills like an artful dodger by denying his more muscular opponent access to force his back on the floor till the end of the game having scored the maximum point against his opponent at the blast of the whistle thus winning the gold.


Engr Toyin Ojo, the Executive Chairman of Ado Central who graced the occasion to boost the morale of his boy to victory commended Sunkami for making the Local Government proud saying he would deploy all efforts to fish out many talented youths in the council Area in other sporting fields.
The Hon. Commissioner for Arts Culture and Creative Economy, Prof Rasaki Ojo-Bakare who moderated the wrestling contest in his closing remarks, announced that all the four finalists will henceforth be tutoured by the State and represent Ekiti State in this year’s NAFEST coming forth in November.
