The coldest countries in the world have diverse weather, with temperatures that can become extremely low and harsh at the same time. Despite their climate conditions, these countries are rich culturally and also blessed with natural wonders.
The residents of each country are resilient; they make the frigid period very exciting for themselves by engaging in snowboarding, skiing, ice fishing, and so on.
Here are the coldest countries in the world:
- Russia
Russia is well known for its cold weather, especially in Siberia, Moscow, and St. Petersburg. Norilsk is one of the coldest locations in Siberia; temperatures usually fall below 30 degrees Celsius.
During winter, Russia is always covered in snow in the form of frozen lakes, landscapes, and rivers surrounded by ice. Although the winter season in Moscow and St. Petersburg can be very unfavourable or harsh, the Russians are accustomed to it and embrace it on a daily basis. Ice fishing and ice hockey are the main winter sports in the country.
- Canada
Canada is also one of the coldest countries in the world, especially in the northern part. Places such as Winnipeg and the Yukon Territory experience frequent falls below freezing and harsh cold. Norway turns into a winter wonderland from November to April. The western coast of the country experiences much warmer weather. Places like Trondheim and Oslo are much drier and colder compared to the aforementioned. During winter, the nights get darker in Norway, and the days are shorter. - Mongolia
The climate in Mongolia is highly harsh; it affects both humans and livestock — they eventually die. The weather threatens livelihood, hindering the country’s food supply. Most of the people are herders who depend solely on their animals to sell for survival. - Kazakhstan
